I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO THANKS EVERYONE FOR THEIR GREAT MESSAGES AND SUPPORT THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER AND ITS BREAKING MY HEART THAT I HAVENT GOT MY JADE HERE TO SHARE IT WITH, SHE ALWAYS LOVED THE CHRISTMAS TREE WITH ALL THE LIGHTS, SHE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO TRY AND EAT THE TINSIL THAT WE HAD PUT AROUND THE HOUSE, I LOVE YOU JADE AND YOU WILL BE SO PLEASED THAT YOU HAVE A NEW DECORATION TO HANG ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE, DADDY GOT YOU A SMALL ROCKING HORSE THIS YEAR I HOPE YOU LIKE IT LET ME KNOW,I HAVE READ ALL YOUR SCHOOL BOOKS AND WATCHING YOU ON CAMERA OH BABY I MISS YOU SO MUCH UNTIL WE MEET A GAIN LOVE MUM MA XX



Jade Lea-anne Parker (Pegg) was my Daughter and sadly died on christmas eve 2002 at 9.15am in the morning,aged 5.5 years. after a long battle with a brain tumor and cancer.
Jade was of a school age,
Jade lived in Newark with myself sarah her mother , Michael her father Jacob and Owen her brothers.
Our latest member to our family is young Baby Ashleigh she was born in feb 2007 and will be told everything about her sister Jade as she grows older . Jade underwent many operations and received weeks of intense rounds of chemotherapy. We were always in and out of hospital for one thing or another!
Jacob was only 21 months old when Jade was born so he was very young during lots of her treatment and spent most of his life living with his grandparents, as living in the hospital was not the sort of place for him to play, with other ill patients ( not the right environment).during this time i was very great full for all the surport from my family so thanks mum and dad you were great.


Jade was born in lincoln city hospital i already had a son jacob 21 months old, we took Jade home and she wouldnt feed properly, after the midwives came out they just told me to continue with what i was doing, over the weeks that passed she still wouldnt take a full feed and when she did feed she was always being sick.
i was always at the doctors asking for help, but they just said that she had a ear infection then gave her antibiotics and sent me home again,
this went on for months, no matter what i said would make them listern
as the months passed the health visitors notiuced that Jade wasnt gaining weight, they soon called the social workers who wanted jade to be admitted to hospital under the heading of failier to thrive.
we were taken to kingsmill hospital in mansfield and taken on to the robin hood ward Jade underwent many tests and i felt the finger being pointed at me saying that i didnt feed my kids but this was not the case and Jade was stilll loosing weight although they had her on a stricted feeeding programme. after we had been in the hospital for a number of weeks the consultants wanted to send Jade for a ct scan and see if they could find out what was going on, so on this day i was with the social workers at a centre whilst Jade had her scan, when i returned home i had a message on the answerphone wanting me to meet with the consultants the following day.
i returned to the hospital the next day only to be told thjat they had found that jade had got a brain tumor and that we need ed to transfer hospitals ( qmc) queens medical centre nottingham.
when we arrived at the (qmc)i was on my own didnt know what to expect and i also had a young toddler to care for , i got Jade settled then went with my son to stay at my parents for a few days . i returned to the hospital and thats when the roller coaster started,
Jade was rushed to surgery for a operation to releive pressure in her brain she needed a drain fitted, she then spent time in picu.
Each time Jade was in the picu i was being told that she may not live and
to prepare for the worst,i was always with Jade it was touch and go for the 1st week of treatment, the medical team were great and were always kind to me and my family which was great.
in the first week at the qmc jade started to fit , needing a drain fitting then a vp shunt fitted to drain the fluid in her brain to help the pressure in the brain then she needed a mri scan then a biopsi then another mri thetreament was on going eachtime not knowing what was happening.
we stayed in hospital for the next 18 months and started a new trial chemotherapy ( called the baby brain protocol) never been tried before on a baby nor a child so we never new what to expect.
each time Jade seemed to to be doing great and she really pleased the doctors with her progress.
we were allowed to take Jade home if all the tests came back clear and the bloods were good,
when the treatment was working jade attended scool in newark and really kept us on our toes,Jacob was pleased that we had her home,
during the hospital treatments and long stays i had to leave my home and during this time it was broken into 3 times within 6 weeks and i lost everything,down to the food in the cupboards and the plates to eat it on.
so i had to start up again and had the help from my parents which i was greatful for.
i met Michael my now husband in 2000 and he really loved my 2 children we got married in 2000 and started to live as a family,
we have now been married 7 years and have 2 more children owen now 5. 3/4 and ashleigh now 19 weeks,
the chemo then stopped and we had to wait and see and have mri scans every 6 months.
Jade grew as normal but never walked nor talked and her mental age never really went above 18 months.
Jade was fed with a tube in her nose always pulling it out,
this went on for another year or so.
Jades condition started to go down hill and she suffered a bleed on the brain and there was nothing more the doctors could do , Jade was brought home and we just caredfor her at home until she passed away on christmas eve 2002. we all miss you Jade very much and we will be together again but until then play in gods gardens and look after the other children and babys that are up there.
